Akin to moments, light, is ephemeral.
With mindful awareness, I immerse myself in my visual surroundings, experiencing the ongoing dialogue between colors, light, and forms that go beyond the limitations of spoken language. I seek to capture the often overlooked, fleeting moments, the ones that are ordinary yet possess an ethereal quality, as they narrate the romance found within the mundane. Through photography, I have formed a profound relationship with time, allowing me to consciously feel present and savor time's passage.
In my practice, I explore the mediums of photography, printmaking, and painting. Rather than working within the boundaries of each medium in isolation, I actively seek moments of convergence to intertwine them. I incorporate painting materials in the process of transforming my images to a physical form, I use fabric, thread, and texturizers to bring forth a tangible embodiment and alter the essence of my photographs. This transformation raises intriguing questions about the nature of perception and what lies before our eyes. I explore the potential of iterative creation, continuously evolving the same image through techniques such as cyanotype, gum bichromate, and silkscreen printing, embracing the notion of endless possibilities and oversights leading to new discoveries.
I view the process of creating as a process of self-discovery. A moment to be observant and contemplative, to indulge in reverie, and to gracefully recognize our own presence in the current moment.
